Becoming a challenge to ladies isn't achieved overnight, however, challenging a lady has a subtle balance between persisting to get the lady and equally being hard(difficult, challenging), if it's not done well, you might just end up being an ass, that's why it takes constant practice to achieve this.
However, what is challenge? In terms of dating and relationship, challenge is an act of presenting oneself as a task to the opposite sex. As y'll know, nobody likes something they got too easy -- and that's where challenge comes in. Being a challenge has various advantages like -- it's a tactics used in keeping your girlfriend in love with you or attracted to you, whoever poses as a challenge experiences a huge attraction from the opposite sex. etc.

#1, Be unpredictable this means that, your actions towards her should be unforseeable. Don't always call whenever she's expecting you to call. In other words -- don't always do things whenever she's expecting you to do it. However, when you call her too much on a regular pattern, she'll always know the exact period you call i.e she's already forseen your action -- and that my dear is not challenge. Note: Be careful when implementing this, it's should be done at a minimal rate in order for you not to come across as ass.
#2, Don't always respond to her calls
If you always answer her calls, there's 99% possibility that you'll come across to her as idle(i.e not busy). You shouldn't appear to her as idle, you should always look like someone with his own life, friends, dreams and goals.
#3, Don't always look forward to get along with her
Always looking forward to get along with her will make you appear as desperate, it might make her feel obliged to you - like you're expecting something from her.
don't always call her, don't always be available for her -- however, whenever you're together - always pay attention to her, try as much as possible to make her have a nice time and a memorable one.
Note: everything you do should always be "sometimes" and "minimal".
Becoming challenging doesn't mean you should become a jerk or moron, it means adding value to your advances, your time etc.
